The Bacalar lagoon is known as the "Lake of the Seven Colors" thanks to its multiple shades of blue and green, and it is one of the most beautiful places in the Yucatan Peninsula. In this yoga teacher training course, you can admire the lagoon from your room, and during a break between classes: dive in for a swim and snorkel. In your free time, explore the Cenote Negro and Cenote Esmeralda, or take a trip to Bird Island to observe migratory birds.
The venue
The accommodation will be in wooden cabins with large windows to appreciate the wonderful landscape. The cabins have fans, hammocks (for relaxed rest), 4 beds each with sheets and comfortable pillows.
The palapas are smaller but have a beautiful view, they are cosier, have 2 beds each, and also have a fan and hammocks to chill out.
Food
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on class days are included in the cost of the course, these will be served in a buffet format. La Casa Shambala is proud to provide a series of delicious vegan recipes prepared with lots of love by our in-house cook. However, if you have personal requirements, they are always open to talking about the menu with the students and improving or changing things if necessary. Meals on days off are at your own expense.
Sattvic food
In Indian yogic culture, you are introduced to the three Gunas; Tamas, Rajas, and Sattva, these represent the three yogic qualities, where Sattva represents purity and pure food; Rajas represents movement and therefore foods that unsettle the mind; Tamas represents static foods that intoxicate the mind and body.
La Casa Shambala chose a Sattvic yogic diet, a diet that shares the qualities of Sattva some of which are “Pure, essential, natural, vital, energy-containing, clean, conscious, true, honest and wise. A Sattvic diet also exemplifies the yogic precept of “Ahimsa” which carries the principle of not causing harm to any living being, the reason why yogic Sattvic diets are simple and vegetarian. The Sattvic diet you are receiving while training is of vital importance, they maintain simple locally sourced ingredients in very carefully thought out recipes so that you can detoxify the body in a paced manner, and ultimately calm the mind.
If you have special dietary requirements it's a good idea to communicate them to the organiser when making a reservation
