Pre-application requirements
Please install Zoom to attend the live sessions. You will also need a yoga mat, computer/tablet or smartphone, internet connection, pen, and notebook. Props are also recommended but not mandatory to have. All levels are welcome.
Certifications
To receive the 200-hour certificate as a yoga teacher, you must complete a written exam and submit a video demonstrating your skills and knowledge while teaching a yoga class. Students who complete their training before December 31, 2023, are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
How the training works
There will be 120 contact hours of pre-recorded and 30 contact hours of live sessions via Zoom, 6 live classes every week, and 2 Q&A sessions every weekend. You will also have 50 non-contact hours for self-study and assignments.
Timing of sessions or daily schedule (IST/GMT+5:30)
The time for the live classes will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and on Saturdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There might be a little time adjustment from month to month. All times are based on IST/GMT+5:30.
Course information
Due to the travel restriction as a consequence of the COVID-19 worldwide situation, Rishikesh Yogkulam has decided to provide the 200 hours of teacher training course online. They believe that it’s important to give accessibility to whoever would like to receive knowledge and thanks to the advancement of the technology, they can provide courses and Training easily affordable by doing it online. They would like to continue to share and spread the ancient yogic knowledge to those who are willing to learn.
They do also provide the possibility to do the first module (100-hour) online this year and the second part of the training, directly in person in Rishikesh, next year.
The 200-hour online yoga teacher training is 24 days (days with instructions) long, a complete immersion course ideal for individuals aspiring to establish themselves as holistic yoga teachers from wherever they are in the world. This online course follows the updated regulations of Yoga Alliance, therefore, upon completion of all lessons and final assessments, you will receive a 200-hour certification eligible to be registered with Yoga Alliance.
The curriculum of the course
- Anatomy and physiology: Deep insights into the inner workings of the human body like an introduction to the skeletal system and bones, muscular system, respiratory system, circulatory system
- Sanskrit: Learn Sanskrit names of postures and their pronunciation
- Asana Lab: The skilful teacher will guide you through the principles of alignment and the art of verbal adjustment for the main postures of hatha yoga and a few other more advance
- Prop usage: Using physical props to support postural understanding, enhance the benefits of the pose and facilitate healing
- Meditation: Meditation and mindfulness, how the mind works and how to control it, stress management through meditation, active and passive meditation
- Chants/Mantras: Understanding the right way to practice them and their benefits
- Philosophy: The broader set of Vedic ideas that have influenced the development of modern yoga and the introduction of yoga Sutra
- Anatomy of the subtle body: Chakras, Pranas, Nadis - and how these unseen energy structures play a role in your health
- Hatha yoga: The foundation of all yoga styles, understanding the right way to practice asanas and their benefits
- Ashtanga Vinyasa: Understanding the practice of a Vinyasa style of yoga with its primary series.
- Pranayama: Learn to interpret breathing patterns and provide practices to correct and improve physical and mental conditions. Learn active, passive, and balancing pranayama, how to use the mudra and bandhas to implement the practice.
