You will be accommodated at Kathy's Island Retreat during the program. The rooms at Kathy's Island Retreat are to an excellent standard and offer everything you need for a comfortable and restful stay. They are recently renovated, bright and functional. Our guests get to sleep with the wonderful sound of the waves and wakes up by the summer breeze to an uninterrupted view of the sea.

The Rooms
Kathy's Island Retreat offers 6 guest rooms in the main house and two studios in a smaller house on the same property. In total Kathy's Island Retreat can accommodate a maximum of 18 people (if two share a double bed and if we turn 2 of the rooms into a 3-person bedroom). All of the guestrooms in the main house have private bathrooms, a fridge, mosquito nets, air-condition or fans, and balconies with an ocean view. There is a possibility of turning 2 of the rooms in the main house into a 3-person bedroom.

The smaller house offers two studios. Both rooms have two single beds, private bathrooms, a fridge, mosquito nets and air conditioning. This house doesn’t have a terrace outside the rooms, but a lovely roof terrace with a beautiful, uninterrupted sea view. The property also has a small swimming pool.

The Restaurant
Kathy's Island Retreat has its own kitchen/restaurant, where guests can enjoy their meals. They serve tasty and healthy Mediterranean food. Kathy's Island Retreat thinks ingredients are important, so they choose them wisely and they source a portion from our ecological vegetable garden. They e also serve fresh fruit and vegetable juices for those that want them. The menu consists of a wide selection of both vegetarian and vegan dishes. In case of food intolerances, allergies or other dietary preferences, Kathy's Island Retreat tries to make every effort to source appropriate products and accommodate your needs as much as possible.

A summer experience at Kathy’s Island Retreat can be very relaxing. There are a number of hammocks under the trees for someone to spend a lazy afternoon, daybeds in the garden, and beautiful warm lighting in the trees at night. There are several seating areas where guests can enjoy socializing over a fresh drink if they wish. Kathy’s Island Retreat aims at creating an oasis that provides room for the choice of being blissfully alone or socializing.

The Yoga Terrace
The yoga terrace is 84sq m big, made out of wood and overlooks the Aegean sea. The sun will set right in front of you during evening meditation. The yoga terrace is equipped with all kinds of amenities such as yoga mats, blocks, straps, blankets, a singing bowl and a powerful gong.

Program

This program intends to give birth to a new breed of yoga teachers. Participants that will emerge out of this program will have experienced what yoga is really about and will have achieved a significant shift in consciousness. 

The trainees will have the opportunity to receive a certification 200Hr Yoga Alliance accepted throughout the world and will be capable to lead a class of students in all the different types of asanas, pranayama, meditations, mudras, bandhas and sound healing. However, this program will also be ideal for people that do not seek to practice yoga as a profession but who would like to go deeper in their own practice and experience a shift in consciousness that will empower them in all the different aspects of their lives. 

Further to successful completion of the program and further practice, candidates will also have the possibility to receive additional certifications to enable them to take part and lead the training of new teachers in this conscious form of yoga. 

The program will last for three weeks of intense work after which their first Yoga Alliance certification could be granted. However, the attendee can continue to be supported by the instructors for an additional 6 months, practice and apply the tools received and an additional certification could be received. Over this period of 6 months, participants will be able to ask questions and will be supported with extra materials, coaching and mentoring. 

The practitioner will be exposed to: 
  • All 4 main types of yoga: Karma, Bhakti, Jnana, Raja 
  • The 8 limbs of yoga: Yamas, Niyamas, Asanas, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi 
  • Various sub-yogas: Hatha, Yin, Kirtan, Vinyasa, Restorative, Ashtanga 
  • Different aspects of yoga such as Yoga Mundras, Chanting, Bhandas, Human Anatomy, the scientific benefits of yoga 
  • Different terms of yoga such as: Ashtanga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Chakra, Koshas, Namaste, Niyama, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Samadhi, Satsang, Surya Namaskara, Vinyasa, Vipassana, Sushmana, Prana, Apana, yin yang, Ahimsa, Satya, Asteya, Brahmacharya, Aparighara, Shaucha, Samtosha, Tapas, Svadhyaya, Ishvara Pranidhana 

First week 
The program will last for three weeks and the first week will focus on asanas. Every day of this first week will focus on a particular type of asanas. After a break, a swim and lunch, the afternoon sessions will be about practising further and going deeper into what you learned in the morning. 

Second week 
The second week we will practise asanas together in the morning, and in the afternoons, we will focus on yoga philosophy, pranayama, human anatomy and different types of meditations. 

Over the second week, participants will become much more capable of controlling their life energy through removing limiting beliefs and revitalizing their different energy centres. 

Attendees can expect to explore new viewpoints on different aspects of their life and as a result, experience more trust, abundance, mental, physical and sentimental balance, greater self-esteem and self-confidence, compassion, non-attachment, and to be more capable in communication at all the different levels. 

Third week 
In the third week, you will become more comfortable with teaching as you will practice teaching your fellow students. 

Although every day and week will be different, there will also be similarities throughout the weeks. Every morning participants will meditate together with an experienced meditator, there will be plenty of time for swims, breaks, hammock time and massages. There will also be excursions to beaches and places of interest on the island, dinners out and plenty of summer outdoor movie nights – the perfect way to chill out after an interesting and fruitful day of training. 

Sound Healing, Aromatherapy and Bach Remedies 
You will participate in several sound healing classes and you will also be trained in how to provide sound healing yourselves. Upon request and depending on availability you can also be trained in Aromatherapy and have an introduction to Bach remedies.

Elias Ananiadis is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT), a founding member of the Registered Yoga School (RYS) of Conscious Yoga Teacher Training & the organization called Conscious Yoga Academy. He has received accreditation as an experienced Yoga Teacher E-RYT 500, YACEP, a Life Coach, a Sound, Aroma, & Energy Healer. He continues to practice Karma, Raja, Bhakti, & Kriya Yoga, & he can offer past life regressions. He pursues ever-higher states of consciousness & has devoted his life to causes that have a positive & meaningful impact on humanity.

She offers classes that combine practices from Ηatha Yoga and Satyananda Yoga. Kathrine is a certified Yoga Teacher Trainer with 500hrs worth of Yoga Alliance certified trainings. She is the founder of Kathy’s Island Retreat, a yoga retreat centre on the coast of Karpathos. Originally comes from Norway, she moved to Karpathos with her family & three children. She has certifications in sound healing, emotion code (a process of releasing trapped emotion) & Bach flower remedies. She is an open-minded, spiritual person, always looking to learn new things about herself. As a yoga teacher she is humble & open & loves the challenges teaching offers.
