Learn highly effective meditation techniques that are backed by science and get more of the how and why to feel confident you are getting it.

Try cold therapy, championed by Wim Hof, learn the scientific benefits of the cold, and let it push you past your comfort zone. Enjoy amazing hikes both in the mountains and the beaches of San Diego. What you will learn

Yoga
Whether you are a seasoned yogi or brand new to the practice, learn how to develop a safe and effective practice that you can take anywhere and do anytime. You will learn proper alignment, fundamentals, techniques, and progressions from SoCal Wellness Retreats's founder John Quirk, a yoga teacher with over 1000 hours of training and thousands of students taught. Their system emphasizes breath and internal awareness that the practice is therapeutic and healing as it is challenging.

Breathing techniques
Many people do not realize that their body’s main system of detoxification is through breathing. Breath also directly affects your central nervous system, brain, and heart coherence and can literally make your body more alkaline with just a few minutes of practice. Breath is the gateway to the subconscious mind and is an ultimate tool that you all possess but it takes skill to harness. SoCal Wellness Retreats will teach you how to use your breath to regulate multiple systems in the body and take your yoga and meditation practices to the next level.

Meditation
When you think of your physical yoga or asana practice, it is often overlooked that the yogis created the physical postures to be able to sit longer in meditation. The word 'meditation' means to become familiar with. So as you become familiar with the old self's thoughts, behaviours, and emotions,⁣ you are retiring that old self. When you have the proper formula and do this enough times, it will begin to become familiar to you. They will give you this formula.

Cold therapy
Another way to deliberately put the body under stress is through cold therapy. You start with cold showers and work your way up to full ice baths. This practice has been proven to improve the body’s immune system, improve circulation, increase energy, decrease inflammation, and improve heart and skin health.

Mountain and beach hikes, plant identification tour and sound bath meditation are included in the price.

Food

During this retreat, you will be served brunch, dinner and snacks daily. There will be six plant-based delicious home-cooked meals total and a food education class. Water, tea, and snacks will be provided, coffee is not to help in body detox.

If you have special dietary requirements it's a good idea to communicate them to the organiser when making a reservation

There’s so much to love about Southern California, the weather is perfect almost all year round and SoCal Wellness Retreats is always in awe of the lush landscapes, beautiful sunsets, and spectacular star-gazing. The town of Ramona in San Diego County is famous for its rolling hills, beautiful farms, and wide-open spaces.

The beautifully manicured grounds of this special property feature nearly 3 miles of groomed and natural hiking trails through fruit orchards, gardens, and down the hillside to Iron Mountain. There are over 2,000 feet of decorative stone walls lining the driveway, gardens, and walkways, and a tree orchard consisting of avocado, citrus (orange, grapefruit, lemon, and lime), and pomegranates.

The custom lap pool and oversized spa are organic in nature showcasing the use of beautiful stonework blending into the natural surroundings along with a BBQ bar and patio decking a perfect ambience to relax, learn and dine under the stars.

John
Founder of Q Yoga, SoCal Wellness Retreats, and SoCal Workplace Wellness, John hails from New York originally but feels right at home on the west coast with flip flops on and a vegan taco in hand. Moving from corporate life as a television producer into teaching yoga and meditation full time in 2014, John possesses a unique mix of thinking quick leader and listening carefully, student.
