When you think of your physical yoga or asana practice, it is often overlooked that the yogis created the physical postures to be able to sit longer in meditation. The word 'meditation' means to become familiar with. So as you become familiar with the old self's thoughts, behaviours, and emotions, you are retiring that old self. When you have the proper formula and do this enough times, it will begin to become familiar to you. They will give you this formula.
Another way to deliberately put the body under stress is through cold therapy. You start with cold showers and work your way up to full ice baths. This practice has been proven to improve the body’s immune system, improve circulation, increase energy, decrease inflammation, and improve heart and skin health.
